How to Get into L.A. from Burbank/Bob Hope Airport

Burbank is the most train accessible airport in the Los Angeles area.

Metrolink, Southern California's commuter rail system and Amtrak offer convenient train service from the airport to Union Station. Union Station, the largest train station in Southern California, connects passengers to the six lines of the Metro Rail system.

You can also take the free Super Shuttle from Burbank Airport to the North Hollywood Red Line station.

To Union Station - Exit your terminal and turn right. Walk 6 minutes (0.3 mile), crossing Empire Avenue to the Metrolink/Amtrak station. If you have lots of luggage, cross to the airport's center traffic island and board a LOT D shuttle. Be sure to tell the driver to drop you at the Metrolink station.

Metrolink - The Southern California commuter rail system runs trains from Burbank Airport station to Union Station, in downtown Los Angeles. Trains operate Mon-Fri from 5:49am to 9:12pm, departing every 15-30 minutes. The trip to Union Station takes approximately 20 minutes.

Buying a Metrolink Ticket - You buy your ticket from an automated ticket machine on the platform. The one way fare is $6.00; Senior/disabled $3; student/active military $5.50. Round Trip fares are $12, $6 and $11 and are only valid on the day of purchase.

Riding the Train - If you've had it with other people's invasive, narcissistic cell phone conversations or their taste in music, head for the Quiet Car – the second passenger car behind the locomotive where cell phones, music and loud talking are banned. Metrolink Information: (800) 371-LINK (5465).

Amtrak Service - Metrolink does NOT have service from Burbank Airport to Union Station on weekends. However, Amtrak offers daily service to Union Station on their Pacific Surfliner trains, including Saturday and Sunday. Trains leave Burbank Airport at 8:58am, 11:26am, 4:25pm, 6:40pm and 9:12pm. The trip to Union Station takes 25-30 mins. One way fare is $8. Amtrak Information: 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).

To North Hollywood - If your final destination is in the San Fernando Valley, Universal City or Hollywood, it's more convenient to take a shuttle bus to the North Hollywood Metro rail station, where you can transfer to the Red Line. Call Super Shuttle for free transport from Burbank Airport to the North Hollywood station. The Super Shuttle will pick you up at the shuttle island in front of the terminal. Call (800) 224-7767 to reserve a van, or (818) 558-3179 if you don't have a reservation. The 4 mile drive to North Hollywood takes about 12 minutes.
