MOLAA's permanent collection boasts over a thousand works by modern artists, spanning El Mundo Hispano from Tijuana to El Tierra del Fuego. Considered to be one of the most important collections of modern Latin American art, MOLAA is famous for presenting never before seen works by established and emerging artists. The collection evokes magical realism in paintings, photographs, sculpture and other works by surrealist artists such as Alejandro Colunga, the solemn and the absurd meet the harsh reality of crushing poverty and violence. The importance of the collection lies in its diversity. Every possible style of art is represented, from the elite salon to visceral works by the common man. One thing is for sure, a trip to MOLAA will show you sides of Latin America you didn't know existed. www.molaa.com |
